Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell: Tributes for Honey Boo Boo co-star

A decade ago, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell received a cancer diagnosis. Before that, she appeared alongside her family on Toddlers And Tiaras.

Subsequently, she starred in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.

At the age of 29, the sibling of reality television star Honey Boo Boo passed away after a lengthy battle with stage four adrenal cancer.

On Saturday night, Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell passed away peacefully at the residence of her mother, “Mama June” Shannon, as reported by her family.

Cardwell and her family, consisting of her half-sisters Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Efird, and Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson, were frequent guests on reality television.

Her mother wrote in a social media post announcing Cardwell’s passing, “She passed away surrounded by her family after putting up a fierce battle for ten months.”

Our continued thoughts, prayers, and affection are with our family during this trying time.

Shannon disclosed to Entertainment Tonight that her daughter had completed four cycles of chemotherapy at the time of the interview, following the announcement of her daughter’s diagnosis in July.

“We have no idea what to anticipate because the cancer is extremely aggressive and rapidly grew from nothing to something enormous on the left side of her body,” she said, adding that the family had come to terms with the terminal nature of the disease and was now managing it “day by day.”

Shannon added, “When the time comes, our family will also reach out to you on social media; Anna would not tolerate anything else.”

Cardwell, who subsequently starred in Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and first appeared with her family on Toddlers And Tiaras, is survived by her two young daughters, Kylee and Kaitlyn.

Thompson also updated her 1.2 million Instagram followers the day after Cardwell’s passing.

“Last night, we all surrounded Anna with love and gave her the all-clear to depart,” the eighteen-year-old said.

“Unfortunately, Anna expired at approximately 11 p.m.” Anna was in excruciating pain the night before, but her family is now sure that she is at rest.

The reality star expressed her “heart is completely broken” and emphasized her late sister’s resilience.

She continued, “I wish you could have witnessed my college graduation, but I know you will always be there to cheer me on in heaven.”
